At BK Fintech Hackday Season 14, GreenTrace, a project developed by a team of FinTech students from the Faculty of Finance and Accounting 1 at the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT), impressed the judging panel and secured First Prize. This achievement recognises the students’ creativity and ability to apply interdisciplinary knowledge, while demonstrating the potential of financial technology to address real-world challenges and enhance value and transparency in agriculture. It also marks a significant milestone in the journey of PTIT’s FinTech students to translate academic knowledge into practical solutions.
BK Fintech Hackday is a student innovation and technology competition held as a series of seasonal events, providing young people with opportunities to develop and showcase practical technology solutions. The competition is co-organised by the Institute of Digital Technology and Economics at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, with the aim of connecting innovative ideas with real-world challenges in the digital economy. This season, participating teams were encouraged to propose technology-driven solutions for sectors including high-tech agriculture, agricultural processing, tourism, hospitality and healthcare in mountainous regions. These sectors increasingly require technological innovation to improve operational efficiency and create sustainable value.
GreenTrace: Connecting Agricultural Data with Asset Verification and Access to Finance
At Pitching Day, participating teams presented and defended their ideas before the judging panel. The process required contestants not only to demonstrate the originality of their solutions but also to explain their practical applicability, implementation approaches and potential value.
Following the evaluation rounds, the PTIT FinTech team impressed the judges with GreenTrace, a platform designed to identify and verify high-value agricultural assets, with a particular focus on medicinal plants such as Ngoc Linh ginseng. The project aims to consolidate information on cultivation areas, farming records and relevant certifications into a digital asset “passport”. By systematising this information, GreenTrace seeks to improve transparency regarding the origin and development of agricultural assets, while supporting businesses and cooperatives in asset verification, assessment and access to financial services.
A key strength of GreenTrace lies in its approach to agricultural challenges through the lens of financial technology. Rather than focusing solely on product information management, the project seeks to connect agricultural asset data with verification and assessment requirements, potentially helping stakeholders across agricultural value chains access appropriate financial solutions.
Through GreenTrace, the students have demonstrated their ability to combine knowledge of finance, technology and data analytics to develop solutions addressing practical needs. The project also highlights the role of financial technology in promoting information transparency, supporting asset assessment and expanding access to financial resources in the agricultural sector.

PTIT FinTech Students: Advancing Innovation Through Practical Solutions
The GreenTrace team comprises four D23 students majoring in Financial Technology: Do Quoc Dung, Tran Duc Cuong, Nguyen Thi Thuy Toan and Chau Tuan Thanh.
Winning First Prize at BK Fintech Hackday recognises the team’s dedication to learning, research, collaboration and project development. The achievement also reflects PTIT FinTech students’ initiative in exploring emerging challenges, applying their academic knowledge and testing innovative, practical approaches.
For students majoring in Financial Technology, participating in innovation competitions provides an opportunity to translate classroom learning into tangible solutions. Through project development, they can strengthen their analytical thinking, teamwork, presentation and pitching skills, while gaining exposure to the practical demands of the technology and business environments.

GreenTrace’s success further demonstrates the creativity, interdisciplinary capabilities and ambition of students at the Faculty of Finance and Accounting 1, Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology. This achievement will inspire the team to continue refining their project, further developing their technological expertise and bringing innovative ideas closer to practical implementation, thereby contributing to the community and the development of the digital economy.
